What is Duan Ni Yixing Clay Teapot?

The yixing clay teapot is made by using duan ni clay, which is also known as “lao tuan ni” produced in Huang Long mountain, Yixing county. Duan Ni can be also ground into powder which is used to to make the “grit” or fleck effect some artists enjoy using on Yixing teapots and wares. This pot has a built-in strainer behind the spout.

What does the Pattern meaning?

The Duan Ni Yixing Clay Teapot is decorated with hand-engraved bird on branch on on side, the other side is Chinese handwriting of a farewell poem by Li Po “唯见长江天际流” which means “Only the Yangtze river flows at the horizon”, shows the unwilling sentiment to breakaway friend.

How do you clean a clay teapot?

Hand wash only using hot water and gentle scrubbing without soap (Yixing clay absorbs aromas easily). Keep lid off until thoroughly dry. Do not microwave.
