What is Yixing Zisha Pumpkin Teapot?

The yixing zisha pumpkin teapot is made by using Tiao Sha Ni Clay, Tiao Sha literally means mixed clay that mix several types of clay together to absorb the advantages of each clay.

The purpose of "Tiao Sha" is to change the texture of the clay, enhance the plasticity of the clay, and enhance the breathability of the teapot. Tiao Sha process almost runs through the history of Zisha(purple sand) production.

What does the Pattern meaning?

The Yixing Zisha Pumpkin Teapot is designed with pumpkin shape and the teapot body is decorated with Chinese handwriting and peony painting. 

The body of this yixing zisha teapot is decorated with Chinese handwriting “金玉满堂” which means treasures fill the home and “花开富贵” which means fortune comes with blooming flowers, also a painting peony flower. The Chinese name for peony means beautiful and in Chinese culture the flowers represent riches, prosperity and honor. 

How do you clean a clay teapot?

Hand wash only using hot water and gentle scrubbing without soap (Yixing clay absorbs aromas easily). Keep lid off until thoroughly dry. Do not microwave.
